Introduction:
Got milk, right? Let's get a little wild and fry it up! Trust me, these little golden nuggets are pure comfort food, and perfect for when you need a little something sweet and cozy. This is perfect for when you might be nearing expiration on all that milk in the fridge and need to get it used up! Plus, who doesn't love a good comfort snack?
In this one here, I will show you how to make this easy fried milk snack, and even some variations. My coffee version here was an experiment that failed, but now we learned a lesson.
As for the hubby, dear Kronos, his allegiance lies with the Nutella and strawberry versions.

Ingredients:
2 cups Milk
1/2 cup Cornstarch
1/4 cup Sugar
Breading Station Ingredients:
1 Egg, scrambled in a bowl
Cornstarch
Plain Panko
Serve with:
Powdered Sugar
Honey drizzle
Equipment:
3 Breading dishes
Medium Sauce Pot
Metal Mesh Strainer
Spatula
Forms
Wax Paper
A knife for cutting
Aluminum foil, if you're getting creative with your molds.
Paper Towels
Whisk
What to do:
Step 1
Bring milk to a boil over medium-high heat in the saucepan.
Step 2
Add in Cornstarch and Sugar, and whisk to combine.
Step 3
Simmer 3-5 minutes while stirring frequently. Be sure to get in the corners of the pot or it will scald to the bottom. The texture will become similar to pudding.
Step 4
Line a mold or dish with parchment/wax paper and pour in the milk. If you are adding variations to this, stir in your variation before pouring into the dish.
Step 5
Cover with more Wax Paper to block out moisture and Refrigerate at least 2 hours, up to overnight.
Step 6
Cut firmed milk into desired shape.
Step 7
Bread the milk by coating it in a dish of cornstarch, then a dish of a whisked egg, them finally in a dish of plain panko breadcrumbs.
Step 8
Fry the Milk until Golden and serve with optional Powdered Sugar and Honey Drizzle!
Variations:
This is limited by your imagination! Here's a few from the YouTube video, one of which was a failed experiment. It happens, but now we know.
Nutella (Add 1 1/2 Tbsp Nutella)
Strawberry (add 1 1/2 Tbsp Strawberry Syrup)
Coffee (This was my fail. in how i went about this. Try using an instant coffee or espresso powder and maybe a dash of powdered creamer instead!)
At the end of the day:
This delicious little snack is a hit with anyone I make it for and any time someone hears about it, it certainly raises a few brows. Go out of the ordinary and explore the possibilities! I wonder if I might try a Fried Marshmellow Milk or even Fried Butterscotch Milk next try... Well, off to the Alchemist lab with me.
