Introduction:
Have you ever gone to the store and the bread section was cleaned out? Or the only loaves available were right on expiration? I've been there. Decided to make it myself, and lo and behold, I've also noticed a weird after taste in store bread during side by side comparisons. Have you ever looked at a nutrition label and wondered what the heck are those ingredients you can't even pronounce? Yea..... I will just make my own. I know what's in it, and this bread is so good that even Kronos here has cravings for this. That was something neither he nor I expected, haha! It's -that- good.

Ingredients:
1 cup Hot Water
1 Packet Active Dry Yeast
2 Tbsp sugar
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 tsp Salt
3 cups All-Purpose Flour
Egg Wash
1 Egg
1 Tbsp Water
Equipment:
Mixing bowl
Spoon
Bread Pan
Cooling Rack
Pastry Brush
Oiled Bowl
Kitchen Towel
What to do:
Step 1
Add yeast and sugar to warm water and stir. Set aside10 minutes until bubbly.
Step 2
Mix in oil and salt.
Step 3
Stir in flour, one cup at a time.
Step 4
Lightly flour your work area and hands and knead the dough until it's smooth.
Step 5
Oil a bowl and turn dough in it until coated. Cover with a kitchen towel for 1 1/2 hours, until doubled in size.
Step 6
Give it a quick knead to get it pliable again, and shape into a loaf. Place in oiled bread pan. Cover with the towels again and rest for 1 hour.
Step 7
Once done with rest, mix egg white and 2 Tbsp water together. This is your eggwash. Brush it over the loaf.
Step 8
Bake at 350F for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Step 9
Brush buns with melted butter (optional), and cool on wire racks before slicing.
Variations:
Try substituting butter for oil. You can brush with more butter after the oven for a delicious butter bread.
(Using Garlic butter in both of those would make a great garlic bread!)
At the end of the day:
After figuring out how easy and delicious this is, I can't go back to store bought. Even the hubby is in love with this bread, so I guess it's a keeper for my keeper.
'What's your favorite thing to use the sliced bread for? (I love it as a cheesy garlic bread and lunch sandwiches!) Let me know in the comments!
