Do you know how long it has taken me to finally light a fire under my bum to finally start this YouTube/blogging journey? Too long. You know what was the final straw for me? Seeing a video of people slapping sliced American Cheese slices on noodles and calling it "Macaroni and Cheese." First of all, how dare you. American cheese is not even cheese, in my opinion.

Have you ever noticed the way specific wording is used in marketing? Well, apparently, they can only actually call something Cheese if it is more than 51% cheese. Otherwise, it's a "Cheese product" Granted, I've eaten my fair share too, and yes, they are good. Until you've had it side by side with real cheese and taste the cardboard-y tongue flack aftertaste. Yuck. Want better for a budget, though? Get the block cheese and shred it yourself. Bigger yield, overall cheaper and doesn't taste like the inside of an off brand cereal box.

The more you know. And the first ever actual American cheese is technically white Monterey Cheddar (Monterey, California, being the namesake).

No, but seriously, I talk to so many people who have never been shown how to do things in the kitchen and it hurts my southern soul, bless your little heart. I'm no expert either, but maybe that's the fun of it, learning something together. I plan to try out lots of new recipes with you guys, so I'm sure we will both learn some things along the way.
